98 GSXL with 99 Pres. reg?

I had a pressure regulator on my 98 GSXL that i replaced and wen i replaced it i went to the dealer and asked for a 99 gsxl pressure reg. and when i put that on i took it for a ride and the black exhaust was overheating.... but the top part around the engine was cool.... so im jus wonderin if there is a difference b/t the 99 and 98 regulators.... i checked the hoses... they were in the right place....


the reason why i replaced the reg.. b/c the bottom fitting where u connect the hose that had broke off....

does nebody know the problem??? should i flush or buy a 98 gsxl reg?

please help...

i have a replaced 951 engine bored out... if that helps any in fixing the problem...

If the hoses are connected correctly, then the water fitting in the pipe must be clogged up.
If the hoses are reversed either on the pipe or at the regulator, you will burn up exhaust couplers and hoses.

The 1999 model regulator will work fine on a 1998 model ski.
