  • 94 SLT question

Friend of mine bought a 94 slt 750 the boat & motor were in pieces. Bought rebuild from SBT & got the thing all together. Now the only problem is this little "THING" that sticks out of the hull in the area where the grate is.It goes through the hull and becomes some kind of fitting inside the hull just under the driveshaft. We have read the clymer manual
up an down can't find what it is or what should connect to it. Oh yeah it takes in water pretty good to. I'm htinking it should be part of the cooling system? Anyone have a clue?

    Thanks

I'm not sure where the other end goes, but that is your speedometer - it reads vacuum from the pump pressure.

Remove your speedometer(MFD), and trace the hose that plugs into the back. It should run down to the fitting. If you are taking on water it could be coming from a few places, the pump, the shaft bearing, or from a loose hose. Check all rubber cooling line hoses, especially the one running beside the motor mount under the exhaust, they are notorious for rubbing holes. One way to check for hull leaks is to run water into the hole and see where it leaks out, just remember it doesn't take much and it will be easiest to lean the ski back so water will cover the pump fittings and driveshaft. You also need to make sure that you get those carbs adjusted right on that new motor or it could be bad news for you.
