I'm looking at buying either a set of factory twin pipes or a Rossier pipe for my 2000 RX. I was wondering which setup will produce the best results for a recreational rider who likes to grudge race a good bit. Also what are the advantages and disadvantages of either pipe. I can get both used for about the same price so I'm just not sure which I should get. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Pipes for 2000 Seadoo RX
That is a tuff one. The twins will holeshot better. I'm not real familiar with the Rossier pipe, as I always use Coffman pipes on rec skis. I think any of those three will run out about the same rpm on top end when setup correctly. Twins are a bit of a maintence nightmare compared to single pipes.Bill O'Neal
Bill, what kind of maintence nightmares do you mean? Also, in your experience with the Coffman what are the average hp/mph gain on a rec. ski with proper tuning. If I remember right you have some for the RX dont you?

Re: Pipes for 2000 Seadoo RX
It is just a bit of a hassle to install, remove, and do different things in an engine compartment that is full of pipe chambers, couplers hoses and stingers, whereas with a single pipe, like the Coffman, it is very simple to install (easier than an oem exhaust system) and it is much easier to access the carbs, starter, oil pump and oil filter.
Our Coffman equipt 951's generally achieve around 7250-7350 rpm and run out in the upper mid 60's mph.
In fact for the past year or so, we are seeing more and more of the 1200 class racers using the Coffman in place of the twin setups at such events as the World Finals. With modifications to the exhaust manifolds, water injection and stingers, these boats run much harder out of the hole and still maintain a very good top speed, very equal to a well set up twin system.
And yes, we have Coffman exhaust for the RX, GTX, GSXL in stock. We will soon have them for the XP again.Bill O'Neal
Re: Pipes for 2000 Seadoo RX
Hey Bill, I have a microtouch ignition/revlimiter already and have a question about its use with the twin pipes. Would you use the microtouch or have the mpem re-mapped? Which would make more sense? I already have the micro touch but I could sell it if the re-map is a better choice. Thanks again, David

Bill
The price you quoted for a setup with the pipe is in the same ballpark as a big bore kit isn't it? Although, you might need additional mods to go along with the big bore kit (carbs?)
I was wondering which way to go. Top speed isn't as important to me as maintaining engine thrust while cornering such as when running a course or just hot dogging it.

Re: Pipes for 2000 Seadoo RX
Actually, I rarely sell a big bore kit that went onto a ski that did not have at least an aftermarket exhaust system too. Most guys who opt for the BB kit either have or want all the bells and whistles to go along with it.
Now,with that said, the larger clyinder bores will provide extra torque. No doubt about that.
What generates extra speed in any major quanity is increasing the rpm of the motor. This is more a function of modifying the MPEM or an aftermarket rev limiter in conjunction with and exhaust system, impellor and carb work.
If you are looking for a very mild boost in performance and speed, I might suggest my carb re-jetting kit, filters and head mod. For $299.95, it will give you added speed and accelleration. Should you decide to go faster, you can always add the pipe and impellor and rev limiter later, without having to re-jet the carbs again, only retune them a bit.
If big bore is what you really want, we can do that too.Bill O'Neal
