  • Factory Pipe and ECWI Kit

I have a question mainly about the Factory Pipe ECWI universal water injection kit. I am getting the Factory Pipe made for my X2, but I am not sure on whether or not I should get the water injection kit. Is it worth the money? What kind of performance will I be looking at? Any downside to it? Also, would I keep the stock cooling line into the pipe, along with another inlet for the water injection silenoid?
Thanks for your previous quick responses!

The solenoid tee's off the main waterline. You do not add another water in line to feed it.

Water injection does not replace your cooling lines. So keep those connected to the motor.

Water injection is to provide more bottom end and mid range power to a motor. It is completely shut off at higher rpms. It is not there to cool your engine.

Aftermarket exhaust systems with ECWI are designed to use water injection from the get-go when they design them. They can use a slightly higher rpm exhaust camber and tail cone and still produce good low to midrange power if they use water injection. You should use the pipe the way it was designed to be used for best results. Consult Factory Pipe and follow their recommendations. ECWI is not just a way to get more money from you. It really does have a purpose in producing more usuable power out of your motor.

Are you getting the Limited or Mod Chamber? I have ECWI on my 90SX and it does make a noticeable difference... Without the ECWI you have to play around with the three water adjustment screws to find a happy medium between low and top end power which does take a little time to suite to your riding needs. However, with ECWI you get optimum low end and top end power and the power band doent seem to have as many dead spots... No matter how you look at it either way will make excellent power. It all depends if it is worth it to you...
Arent you running dual Keihins? What size are they 38,40, or 42?
My third 650SX that I have which is just a hull now had dual "blue" 42mm Keihin racing carbs with a Westcoast head (210 psi) and a Coffman Pipe w/stock porting that was a fun one!

Thank you both for your responses. These forums are the best I've seen in awhile. I think I'm going to end up getting the ECWI kit with the Factory Pipe. The benefits you two talked about sound great, and I want this to be a quick jetski.
quickSX/XP, They are dual Keihin CDKII 42mm I believe. Havent ridden it yet with those, but I cant wait.
I am planning on going home tonight and beginning the break down process. Pull motor, drive shaft, pump. Have all new bearings and seals, new impeller, and a new intake grate. A bunch of other little projects too, so it should be a fun spring when I actually go out and ride it.
        Thanks again for the help

What impeller do you plan on using?
Also if those are indeed 42mm Keihins I can probably help you out with jetting if you are starting from scratch. Do you already have the intake manifold to run those carbs? Let me know

Yea they are jetted for a 650. I dont know how to jet it properly with the pipe on it. and it did come with the intakes for it. Jetting four wheelers is one thing, but watercraft is a little different. Im planning on using a Solas 13-18 impeller. If i dont like it Ill probably get the 13-19 that Solas has for it.

Re: Factory Pipe and ECWI Kit

The 13/18 is recommended for a stock boat but it will be OK to use, and a smaller pitch impeller is better for carb and pipe tuning than one that is too tall. I use a 14/19 Solas on my 90SX and a 9/17 Skat on my 89SX. If you want to put a taller impeller on it I would go with the 9/17 Skat before the 14/19 Solas. The Skat is the better of the two...
